There’s a certain magic in crossing to the other side of the street. It’s like stepping into a new world, a different reality, each time. Simply crossing the other side of the street significantly changes my perception of the reality around me.
After crossing the other side of the street, it makes me feel as if I am in a new place, having new impressions, although at the same time, I am aware that I am walking down a particular street for the thousandth time. I wrote this text on the 12th of October, 2024. It was a sunny and beautiful day. It was 13 degrees Celsius (55.4 degrees Fahrenheit) outside. Even though many people had already worn winter clothes, I was walking in summer clothes, including the www.adammazek.com t-shirt. While walking on the same street for the umpteenth time, I decided to change the side of the street each time I reached its corner.
By doing it, I was mixing a little bit of my way of walking.
The truth is that I practically constantly change the direction of my walking without any plans, and I never repeat the same path in my successive photo walks. I usually try to diversify directions and the sides of the streets I walk on. This way of walking always gives me new impressions. It is a moment when I see and feel that each day is totally different from the other, even though they may seem to be the same. Still, street photography helped me notice this mindful thing. Warsaw is a labyrinth for me in which I can sometimes get lost.
When I always walk and take pictures of everything that surrounds me, I feel like an alien who has just landed on this strange planet and is curious about what is behind every corner and on the other side of each street. I simply love this feeling. Thanks to evoking all these things, I believe I will be taking great pictures of Warsaw’s streets until the end of my life.
