What’s the biggest problem with Queen songs? They’re the victim of their own success.
Generally speaking: I rarely listen to Queen songs on Youtube. Why? Because I’ve already heard a lot of them, e.g., on the radio. For me, there is the surfeit of Queen songs. When I hear most of them, I do nothing feel anything (contrary to the ’90s when all Queen songs were a feast for my ears). Of course, there are still some exceptions like “I’m in love with my car,” “Play the Game,” or “Flash,” that I do like to hear them sometimes, even on Youtube. I would say that it happens quarterly. Still, I think that there are too many songs of the Queen band playing on the radio. I believe that this is the biggest problem with Queen songs.
I remember when in the middle of the ’90s I received from my beloved parents, as a gift, Queen “Greatest Hits” CD.
It is a beautiful moment to say to them “Thank you” for not only this special gift but for everything they did for me during my whole life. Without your love and effort, I would not be the one who I already am. Back to the Queen “Greatest Hits” CD, when I started to listen to it, I remember that this album opened my inner eyes to many worlds placed in my imagination. I remember that I was listening to the Queens songs over and over again. This album was (and still is) one of the best albums I have ever heard to.
During the ’90s, the other favorite albums were Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and “Bad.” I still listen to these albums even today.
Today, this album is not as magical to me as it was in the ’90s. When I hear Queen tunes on the radio, I do not feel magic anymore. When I listen to Queen playing on the radio, I’ve got the feeling that Queen songs became a victim of their own success.
