The older I am, the more I feel the pursuit is the reward.
The truth is that I do not have the aim of my artistic activity. Moreover, I do not have goals regarding my blogging. I do not have nor strategy or business plan for selling my photographs. Undoubtedly, I will never have them. I do not intend to have it. I wrote many times here, on www.adammazek.com, that the process counts. When I go out and do street photography, I usually do not have the aim of where to go. Usually, I choose the way I walk spontaneously. The pursuit is the reward. During many trips in my life, I was always curious about what’s behind the forest I see or the mountain. Where I would go if I turned left or right without traveling to the destination point. The journey process, not only the holiday one but the journey called life, counts.
I want to develop, learn new things, talk with people, read books, do street photography, and write new things, even if I do not know the ultimate purpose of all these things.
Do I have to know it? I do not think so. The truth is that I am pleased that within one hour, I will go out (I wrote this text on the 27th of May, 2022) and do street photography. I won’t do it because I have a goal, e.g., to become a famous artist. No. It is not the point.
Moreover, I do not aim to monetize my passion. Both fame and money can be side effects of my creative activities, but they are not the aim. I just enjoy the whole process. I do not seek instant gratification. That’s why I do intermittent fasting, take cold showers, and expose my body to coldness. The purpose of my life is not to seek pleasures. It is a pain that makes me stronger and happier.
