Visiting different places is like reading diverse books. The appetite grows as you eat.
The beautiful tragedy is that it is impossible to see all the sites or read all the books. Is it possible to read one book many times or visit an identical city frequently? Of course, it is. I have so with the capital of Poland. The more districts I visit, the more I see how unfamiliar I am with my city. New neighborhoods mean new impressions and new thoughts.
Today (I wrote this text on the 6th of September, 2022), I am photographically discovering the Bielany district.
I did street photography there before, but not as much as in Mokotow or Ochota districts. As you can see, my Dear Friend, I am writing about Warsaw’s districts. I would say that exploring the same city, once again in one’s life, it’s identical to reading the same books and meeting the same people. We often return to the same people, books, or areas. Why? Because we feel that we still can learn and take much inspiration from the same people or places. Undoubtedly, we want to also learn many things by contemplating new books, chatting with strangers, or traveling around the world.
Still, as I wrote at the beginning of this text, it is impossible to know all other people’s thoughts.
Moreover, we cannot explore all towns around the world. The more frequently I walk along Warsaw’s streets, the more I realize that I do not know the city where I live. While writing all these things, I realized we do not know each other well. We think we know who we are, but I think no one truly knows who one is. That’s why we can take inspiration not only from the same people, books, or places but also from deep within ourselves.
