Sometimes I see Warsaw as an unknown city.
Is that mean that I try to become a tourist who sightsees the capital of Poland from the perspective of someone who is in Warsaw for the first time? Yes, of course. The truth is that I always try to personate to such a tourist or even an alien from outer space. Undoubtedly, it is a moment when familiar places become an unknown city for me. I want to photograph everything surrounding me, including street lamps, garbage, and other mundane objects. While strolling in the imaginative unknown city, I feel like someone discovering something new not only for himself but for the whole of humanity. The truth is that I feel like astronauts on Stanislaw Lem’s “Eden” planet. I wonder if I ever get bored of it. I hope not.
Compared to New York or Paris, I believe Warsaw is still little known artistically.
I would say that the capital of Poland is practically undiscovered from the creative point of view. I plan to change this through my activities. That’s why I focus on Warsaw while doing street photography. Of course, you could tell my Dear Friend I do it because I live here. You would be right. Still, I do not see any reason I should be a local patriot. I do not doubt that Poland and Warsaw are underestimated in various issues. For example, sometimes, I wonder why Taschen still did not publish anything about Zdzislaw Beksinski.
Furthermore, I wonder why they did not publish the “Living in Poland” book. I think that if we do not know the answer, the solution hides behind money. I will leave Western-European publishing houses with their decisions of what should they do. Indeed, I cannot influence what they will publish. What I can do is focus on myself and make Warsaw great again.
