The World.

September 26, 2024 by Adam Mazek

The world is not only beautiful but also strange, exciting, weird, ambiguous, unknown, bizarre, thrilling, eerie, obscure, indefinite, compelling, and cruel.

The longer I live, the more I realize I do not know anything about the surrounding world. Of course, I can say that my knowledge and experience increase with aging. Thus, I become more thoughtful and wiser with each subsequent day passing by. Nevertheless, I feel that the more knowledge about the world I gain, the more questions and doubts arise in my mind. Perhaps it is wisdom to be conscious of one’s lack of knowledge. But this pursuit of knowledge, this intellectual stimulation, is what keeps us engaged and alive.

Nevertheless, in today’s text (I wrote it on the 22nd of August, 2023), I want to stress that it is good to learn and develop regarding one’s professional career.

Undoubtedly, it is also one of the ways to know a small piece of the world. Still, what I know is that it is simply impossible to see and know each bit of mystery that the thrilling world provides us. I merely come to terms with the fact that we know little about ourselves, both on the macro-cosmic level (do we know if there is extraterrestrial life?) and micro-cellular level (do we know why people behave as they behave?). Do we have to know all these things? I do not think so.

Undoubtedly, we, the human race, have limited capabilities to understand many things (e.g., those regarding black holes).

Still, our limitations should not stop us from searching life’s sens and the universal truth. Even if something like life’s sense does not exist, it does not mean we should sit and wait for death because we do not know why we live. Contrary, I believe it is a process that counts. For me, the artistic process is the most joyful experience I had, a source of inspiration and motivation, while having fun creating. It is in this process that I find meaning and joy.
