This text won’t be about a movie about Michael Jackson entitled “This Is It.”
Although I consider myself a fan of Michael Jackson’s ’80s and ’90s songs, I did not watch the “This Is It” film. That’s why I do not have anything to say about it. I decided to write this post because while doing street photography on the 3rd of December, 2023, I heard from one of the strangers I met in Mokotow something like this: “This is it. My daughter walks precisely the same way you do. Respect.” This encounter was a reminder of the unique experiences I’ve had while embracing the cold weather.
If you are here for the first time, on the www.adammazek.com blog, my Dear Friend, I must explain the background of this comment.
Since the Fall/Winter 2021/2022 season, I have been walking in summer clothes (including the www.adammazek.com t-shirt) in frigid temperatures. On the 3rd of December, 2023, it was 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit). I was wearing summer clothes, including a T-shirt, as mentioned earlier, shorts and sneakers. I had only a winter cap and gloves from the winter clothes. While walking that day, snow was falling, and a white, pure shell of snow covered all Warsaw’s streets. It was a breathtaking sight, a serene beauty that only the cold weather can bring. It was beautiful in Warsaw, as usual.
For me, there is no bad weather in which to walk and take pictures.
I always try to find advantages in each weather I face, even if there is a scorching heatwave. Undoubtedly, since the fall/winter of 2021, I have started to love these seasons and frigid temperatures. I feel tremendous joy each time I go out to feel coldness enveloping my body. I know it may sound silly. After all, cold hurts. Still, who said that working out does not hurt? Running, weightlifting, and other crazy sports are physical efforts for our bodies. While doing sports, we destroy our muscles so that they will grow while we sleep. After working out, endorphins are buzzing in one’s blood. I believe and feel a similar process occurs during and after exposing bodies to coldness. After all, isn’t cryotherapy one of the most efficient ways to prevent professional sportsmen from avoiding injury and regenerating their bodies after horrific physical effort? This is it for today.
