For me, the title song is one of the most both philosophical and energetic songs ever made. I am re-inspired to refer to another song from Metallica’s “Black album.” The song’s title – “Through the never.”
In one of my previous posts, I already had mentioned that “The Black Album” is one of the best albums that was ever composed. It gives unbelievable power to be proactive, to start another day. The “Through the never” song brings many new and fresh thoughts to my mind while listening. For me, this song’s message is quite similar to one of my posts – Ostensible chaos.
Metallica’s song also gives us a lot to think. The lyrics say that we humans possess limited abilities to understand the surrounding us world.
Humanity is on the constant quest to gain more and more knowledge about the universe and existential questions. Nevertheless, we had, have, and will have limitations of this understanding. For example, I am convinced that we will never find out and prove how we appeared in this world. Moreover, we will never get to know how the universe began.
We are in constant search, we are continually developing our civilizations, but all our doings are surrounded by chaos, which we see as unpredictable. This chaos is the answer to a lot of existential questions. For example, we do not know what was happening before the creation of the world. Is there was chaos? Or maybe “nothing“? But what is “nothing”? And what is chaos? How can we describe, measure, count, or visualize it? Both religion, alchemy, mysticism, or science try to explain many issues, but we are helpless. “Through the never” song reminded me once again that we have insufficient powers to digest the mystery of surrounding us world.
