From my photographic and artistic point of view, I consider both times of prosperity and economic crisis as a decent period to take photos.
Why? Let’s start with the time of prosperity. It is the period that has existed in Poland for many years. The rate of unemployment is at a record-breaking low level. A lot of people have a job and live at an acceptable level. There is not as much poverty as in the ’90s in Poland. There is also much safer on the streets. In my case, it is a crucial factor that makes my hobby more reachable for me and others. Is that mean that if the streets were more dangerous, I would not take photographs on the streets? I still would be trying to do that, but it would be more difficult.
Moreover, during the time of prosperity, many new buildings were built. There are a lot of objects which can be photographed (e.g., construction buildings). Thus, we can have fun with documentary photography.
I believe that the time of economic crisis could also be proper for taking photographs on the streets.
But why?
– undoubtedly, you could ask me, my Dear Friend.
In general, during that time, buildings are decaying. Some of them are emptied. Abandoned buildings are an excellent and grateful place to take pictures. I love to explore such areas. During crises, there are a lot of empty buildings in big cities.
Is that mean that I wait for the crisis?
No. I wish all people possess as few crises in their lives as possible. Undoubtedly, the economic crisis will appear sooner or later in this world and my country. But, as for today, let’s be grateful for the time of prosperity.
