Translations

February 15, 2020 by Adam Mazek

Today I will write about translations. The fact is that I do not write in my mother tongue but the English language.

Thanks to that, I can reach the broadest possible audience worldwide. Translations already became one of the most frequent things I do regarding creating my “Diaries.” Nowadays, more and more people use the English language daily. Undoubtedly, it is the most popular language ever in this world. Do I possess a source for this fact? No. I believe it is true because 7.7 billion humans live today. A lot of them use English. Thus, I think it is natural to use this language when discussing running a website.

Speaking shortly: I don’t want to wait for someone (or myself) to translate my texts from Polish into English.

I write my posts in the English language from the very beginning of my writing activity.
Later, when I create a subsequent edition of “Diaries,” I will do two translations. The first one is translating my English posts into the Polish language. Google Translator is my partner at this stage. While doing that, I often make some modifications to my text. Thus, the next and last step is preparing an English version of “Diaries” by translating from the Polish version. As you see, my Dear Friend, translations have become one of the most frequent things I do regarding my broadly defined internet activity.

Is there a downside to this method? I think there is one.

The Polish version of translations may sound a little unnatural. I know that it is impossible to create perfect things. Also, I want to stress that I work alone, and if I had to make everything look perfect, I would probably not do all these things. Translations are another brick in the wall that can tell me that being perfect is merely impossible.

What about you, my Dear Friend? Do you write a lot? If yes, do you use your mother tongue or maybe, the same as me, a foreign language?
