The older I am, the more I try to treat life as a game.
Life, in its essence, is a game. Just like in a game, we make choices, face challenges, and experience victories and defeats. Embracing this perspective can bring a sense of playfulness and adventure to our daily lives. Every day, we make many choices. Some are less important, and others are genuinely essential. Whatever path we choose, it will always lead us somewhere, even if life is, paradoxically, a road to nowhere. Undoubtedly, sooner or later, there will be a game over for all of us, no matter which way and which choice we make. Knowing it, is there anything reasonable to worry about other things? I believe everything is out of our control. The only thing we can genuinely influence is ourselves.
Still, even in this matter, we have limited possibilities.
We cannot fully control our thoughts, fantasies, minds, or moods. Isn’t it better to treat life as a game full of adventures? Sometimes, it can hurt; sometimes, we can succeed, be in love, and spend a tremendous, horrible, or dull life. Life is a game with infinite variations. In general, people play games for fun. I am not an exception (even though the last time I played my favorite Football Manager was in 2016). I aim to treat life like gameplay, each day full of fun or joy. Of course, it is hard and practically impossible to treat life as a game all day, every day.
Still, I do not see anything wrong in trying to do it.
That’s why I play in street photography, rucking, or exposing my body to cold while walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures. All these activities are a tremendous joy for me. I hope you also find incredible games to play in your life, my Dear Friend. I do not recommend playing PlayStation or Xbox. Playing those games does not develop your mind that much. I chose something creative (street photography, writing, and managing the www.adammazek.com blog) and challenging (who likes to walk with a heavy backpack on one’s shoulders wearing summer clothes in freezing temperatures? Am I the only one?). But in these challenges, I find joy and creativity, and I hope you can too.
