Between the 10th of June and the 17th of June, 2024, I practiced an unobvious experiment.
I embarked on a unique experiment to challenge my eating habits and explore the effects of unrestricted eating. This experiment was not about indulgence but rather a deliberate attempt to understand the body’s response to different dietary patterns. It happened while Kamilka and I (+ our kitty Azorek) went to Parnu, the seaside town in Estonia. Between the 10th of June and the 17th of June, 2024, I deviated from my usual eating habits. I indulged from morning to evening, consuming a variety of foods, with processed food (including candies, chocolate, etc.) at the forefront. Also, during the seven-day period, I drank beer. This starkly contrasted my usual routine of intermittent fasting, which I had been practicing since Christmas 2020.
What did I learn from this unobvious experiment?
I realized that the state of having a stomach filled with food all the time is not the natural state for human organisms. Eating from dusk till dawn is unhealthy. I felt worse than while doing intermittent fasting. While being in Parnu, I had much less energy, and the power of my mind was worse. Also, I slept worse. Does it mean I did not have a great time with my beloved Kamilka?
On the contrary, we had a significant period in Estonia. We saw not only the Baltic seaside in Parnu but also one of the most Russian cities in the European Union, Narva, where 88% of the Citizens are of Russian origins (many of them are stateless persons; people without Estonian and Russian citizenship, but they origins are Russians), the Estonian capital, Tallinn, and one of the many Estonian islands, Kihnu.
It was a time filled with exploration and joy.
However, I also reminded myself of an important lesson: we should not eat from morning till evening daily. We do not need as much food as giant companies try to convince us. We harm ourselves by eating all day. This experiment reinforced my trust in intermittent fasting, a practice that has brought me health and well-being.
