The world as it is, unornamented, is gorgeous. That’s why I do street photography.
Moreover, it is one of the main reasons I do not use Photoshop while editing my photographs. I use the Lightroom program. This program is the equivalent of a photographic darkroom used to develop analog photos. It is impossible to add special effects in the same way as in Photoshop. In Photoshop, one can transform a picture into a graphic.
Contrary to Lightroom, where photographs remain photographs. I know I do not aim to ornament the world surrounding me in my pictures. Such doings do not interest me. Still, I do not desire to create documentary photographs. What I want to show here, on the www.adammazek.com website, is presenting the mundane, unornamented world via my inner artistic vision. There are many colorful and beautiful pictures we can even find on the Internet and in many albums.
Often, the reality presented there is ornamented. For me, embellished and colorized is beautiful but also dull.
It is one of the reasons I do not take pictures of smiling people and beautiful places that make tourists desire to shoot images there. I leave the attractive areas to tourists. I choose the mundane reality. It truly absorbs my creative powers and abilities. The usual surroundings interest me the most. I do not want my photographs to become a beautiful substitute for reality. The truth is that I want them to somehow copy reality with my artistic, ambivalent, unspoken translation. I am interested in an unornamented world without Photoshop. I wrote this text on the 9th of September, 2022. It was a day when finally it was pretty cold and cloudy. It was a day when I realized, once again in my life, that I love such weather. Grey reality becomes greyer, and so do my black-and-white pictures.
