Virtual Place of Seclusion

February 18, 2025 by Adam Mazek

My blog is my virtual place of seclusion, where I do not have to read and watch the news.

The beginning of this text is a quote from my post entitled “Slow down.” Today (I wrote the “Virtual Place of Seclusion” text on the 8th of February, 2024), I want to stress that my blog was, still is, and I hope will be a place where I can slow down until the end of my life. I do not want to write here about current events. Since the Polish government changed in the middle of December 2023, there has been much political turmoil in my homeland. Still, I do not want to read and write about them because I am sick and tired of the politics. There is too much politics everywhere. Let’s kick politics out of art. Of course, it is impossible to do it entirely. After all, I cannot influence other artists’ doings. The only thing  I can influence is what will appear in my blog.

It is good that some artist has political statements in their artworks.

Still, I do not want to be one of them. The “War in Ukraine” series of posts was one of the most visible exceptions where I broke my rule of avoiding politics on the www.adammazek.com website was the “War in Ukraine” series of posts. When the full-scale war between Russia (aggressor) and Ukraine erupted on the 24th of February, 2022, I decided to comment on some events in real-time. I was too shocked by the Russian orcs’ aggression towards Ukraine to remain silent. Still, writing about the war in Ukraine was an exception in my virtual place of seclusion. Today, I just sometimes mention this war. Still, it does not mean I do not keep my fingers crossed for all the brave Ukrainians and that I sometimes do not pay some money to charities that help Ukrainians.
