The song “Vital Signs ” by Rush, from one of the greatest rock and roll albums, “Moving Pictures,” inspired me to write this text. Its profound lyrics and captivating melody sparked a journey of self-reflection and understanding that I’m excited to share.
I must admit that when I first heard the “Vital Signs” song, it did not impress me much. Luckily, true masterpieces, like the titled song, do not have to be evident and noticeable. It is not only astonishing melody and drums that I hear, thanks to which I simply desire to live more and more. Indeed, the wise text also opened my mind to this song. Geddy Lee’s voice singing that everybody got to deviate and elevate from the norm made me realize I started deviating from the norm when I began doing street photography in October 2015 (I wrote this text on the 21st of February, 2024).
After all, who typically walks in mundane streets and takes pictures of, e.g., garbage?
Is that the only way I elevate from the norm? I do not think so. Rather, a relatively small number of people fast, take cold showers, and stroll wearing summer clothes in frigid temperatures (my record was walking in the www.adammazek.com t-shirt, shorts, sneakers, winter cap, and gloves when it was -12 degrees Celsius [10.4 degrees Fahrenheit]). Undoubtedly, that’s how I elevate from the norm. I know that Rush has other songs with clever texts, including “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight,” and “Subdivisions.” I must dive more deeply into their songs. I think I only know the tip of the iceberg regarding Rush’s songs.
Luckily, YouTube’s algorithms often recommend my great songs. This undoubtedly shows that, in some cases, artificial intelligence can be very useful or even inspirational. It happened with my case and the “Vital Signs” tune. I’m curious about what great melodies YouTube will bring me in the future. I can’t wait to hear them. Now, I will go to sleep.
