Walking during hot weather.

February 10, 2025 by Adam Mazek

In the middle of winter (I wrote this text on the 28th of January, 2024), I will write about walking during hot weather.

On that day, I thought: Should I consider walking in hot weather a challenge similar to walking in freezing weather? Of course, in both cases, I mean walking while dressed in summer clothes. For most people, walking in summer clothes during heatwaves is normal. For them, what is abnormal is walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures. Still, the more challenging for me is walking wearing summer clothes during scorching heatwaves rather than during minus temperatures. Strolling in the middle of the heat is exhausting for me. Undoubtedly, it is much easier to hide from the cold (e.g., by wearing an additional layer of clothes) than from the heat.

The truth is that I treat walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures as a big challenge.

Still, should I consider walking in scorching as the same challenge? After all, when the heat waves strike my country, the government officially announces not to go out without necessity. Isn’t it leaving the comfort zone ofn the same level as wandering in freezing temperatures? For me, it is.

Nevertheless, I have no doubt that walking in the cold can bring many health benefits, including better sleep, reduced muscle pains, better resistance to illness, and anti-inflammatory properties. I do not know the similar benefits of walking in the heat. What I know is that my skin can be burned. Thus, I should use sunscreen cream. Do I miss walking during hot weather? No. I hope I will have many walks during the upcoming weeks. Undoubtedly, one of summertime’s best advantages is that days last longer. Thus, I do not have to go in the middle of the day to feel the scorching heat.
