Today, I will explain why it is in China’s interest to get rid of Putin.
During the first days of the Russian aggression on Ukraine, I thought that it would be China that would gain the most from this invasion. I believe that Putin felt that he would do a favor to Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China. Now I see that Putin will do more harm to China than everybody expected. Since Donald Trump’s presidency, I have no doubts that China saw a massive crack in the Western world (mainly: USA vs. UE). Undoubtedly, Xi Jinping planned to broaden this political and economic crack and take advantage of this situation for China’s geopolitical and economic purposes.
After fucking Putin’s army invasion of Ukraine, Russia disrupted the People’s Republic of China’s plans. Of course, the Middle Kingdom can benefit from the Ukraine war. Still, I am convinced that China could receive much more, e.g., global influence, by undermining the Western countries, with the USA and the European Union at the forefront of mutual relationships.
In the long term, China won’t benefit as much as it could without the war in Ukraine.
The Russian army’s invasion of the neighboring country provided chaos to the world market. One of the primary winners of world trade was China. Today (I wrote this text on the 11th of March, 2022), it seems that China can lose its economic influence. United and the strong West means weaker China. Of course, in the war in Ukraine, the most damaged will be Ukraine itself in the short term. Still, I have no doubt that Russia will lose the most in a long time. I hope that sanctions will economically strangle Russia so that this country will never be able to rebuild its military power again. The quicker Russians will get rid of Putin, the faster Russia will start to rebuild its trust.
