“War is the father of all and the king of all.”
The header of this post is a quotation from the ancient Greek philosopher named Heraclitus. For him, the war was a metaphor for the eternal, universal clash of opposites. This war rules natural processes of change. There may be a temporary stalemate on the cosmic battlefield, but according to Heraclitus, if one side of the conflict would dominate and permanently prevail, the world’s order would collapse. Thus, it would be an end of the world. I suppose that this metaphorical presenting of war can provide us information about what is going on with humanity throughout the ages.
In the history of humankind, there were a lot of mighty empires and kingdoms that are already gone forever.
I would mention to you only some of the examples: ancient Greece, the ancient Roman empire, Alexander’s the Great empire, Ghenghis Khan’s Mongolian empire, Napoleon Bonaparte’s France, or the Soviet Union. Undoubtedly, many other empires collapsed and gone forever. The XX century and the beginning of the XXI centuries, without a doubt, is a time where the USA rules the world. Nevertheless, I do not think so that their dominance would last forever. Today, China is the primary opponent of the USA. I somehow feel that the coronavirus pandemic and the economic crisis that would follow it would be the beginning of the new, enormous conflict. Is that mean that I predict a war? I do not know. Probably there will be some wars, in third countries, where the most significant powers will clash indirectly with themselves.
Nevertheless, following Heraclitus’ thoughts, I doubt whether the dominance of the USA would last forever.
Sooner or later, their supremacy would become to shake. The order of the world, as we know, would end. Is that mean that I wait for such a moment? No. I like the American culture and the way of how it was exported to other countries. Mickey Mouse, Star Wars, or Michael Jackson could be a symbol of American cultural supremacy. I hope that there will never be a Third World War, but there is a high possibility that sooner or later, it will happen.
