Undoubtedly, Warsaw is an endless inspiration.
For me, Warsaw is not just a city but an endless wellspring of inspiration, a place where I feel a deep personal connection. I wrote this text on the 24th of November, 2023, the day I went out to take a walk after work. It was 2 degrees Celsius (35.6 degrees Fahrenheit). I was walking in the www.adammazek.com t-shirt. Did people stare at me with disbelief? As usual, they did. Nevertheless, while walking, I felt freezing winter was blowing through Warsaw’s streets. When I raised my head to the dark sky, I saw moving clouds wrapped in the Sun’s light. Of course, this light was reflected by the Moon. When I saw the Moon and the wind stopped blowing, I noticed a bright “star” nearby.
Firstly, I thought it was Venus.
I must admit that even though I have read many books about the Universe, I am not good at recognizing celestial objects while observing them directly from the Earth. Later, after returning home, I realized I saw planet Jupiter, not Venus. Still, while imagining Venus, I wondered why this planet, totally inhospitable for earthly organisms to live, was (for many, still is) considered the planet of love, romance, and passion.
But why did I write in the title of this text that Warsaw is my endless inspiration? It is because I was walking, contemplating the night sky over the capital of Poland with my feet stomping hard on the ground. I felt as if I were in my private city.
Undoubtedly, Warsaw is my secret city.
It does not mean I will do whatever I want to do here. I know I must obey the law. Still, I have walked here so many times that the capital of Poland seems to me as a private, endless, and impossible-to-explore backyard. How happy I am that tomorrow it will be cold (around 2 degrees Celsius). I will be able to walk in the frigid while doing street photography in my city, which I will be exploring until my death. With its rich history and vibrant culture, this city has become a part of me, an endless source of inspiration and fascination.
