As far as I remember, I still did not write a post with a catchy and cliche phrase: “Warsaw is beautiful.”Â
Is Warsaw beautiful? Of course, it is. I wrote this text on the 5th of September, 2022. A few days ago, I was doing street photography on the Bielany district’s streets. It was a moment when I told myself:
Warsaw is beautiful.Â
Indeed, I often tell myself that Warsaw is a truly magnificent place. Do we see this beauty in my pictures? For me, yes, we can see it. Of course, many people would say that the true beauty of the capital of Poland we can see near the Old Town, The Royal Lazienki Museum, or the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanow. I would agree partially with those people. For me, these places have the same level of beauty as mundane suburbs. Of course, it is a matter of taste for each of us. We can see many beautiful colorful pictures on postcards. For me, such photographs are lovely for the eye, nothing more.
Places like the Old Town are like a city’s mask.
I take off Warsaw’s mask by doing street photography in mundane districts like Bielany. I sometimes present even dirty places, including plastic garbage, old rags, etc. Still, we can find such beauty by finding symmetry, proportion, asymmetry, or other catchy for eyes sight. Why do I develop photographs in black and white color? It is because color distracts from finding this beauty. By writing all these things, I reminded myself I have many pictures where color is crucial in analyzing the image. Undoubtedly, I will prepare sets of photos for each color in the future. Today, I am still determining when exactly. I do not have to mention that most photographs will be from the capital of Poland, the beautiful Warsaw.Â
