The longer I live in the capital of Poland, the more I walk on Warsaw’s streets, and the more I see the biggest city in Poland is my neverending inspiration.
I wrote this text on the 24th of October, 2023. Luckily, I could stroll among Warsaw’s streets and do street photography. I was walking in the Mokotow district, my homeland and the center of my Universe. I was walking along paths and roads for the umpteenth time. While doing it and realizing I see the same Warsaw’s corners for the thousandth time, I reaffirmed that Warsaw is my neverending inspiration.
The way the light hits the buildings, the unique architecture, the people I meet on the streets, and the changing seasons all contribute to this inspiration. I must stop for a second. Even though I watch the same Warsaw corners for the umpteenth time, does it mean they look the same every time? For me, they don’t. Contrary. Each day, they seemed to be different. The truth is that I’ve been living in the same place for almost twenty years (since September 2004, to be more precise).
Moreover, I’ve regularly and consciously done street photography since October 2015.
That’s why I said that I saw many street corners in the Mokotow district for the umpteenth time, and the more I see them, the more I realize each day is totally different from theirs. I cannot imagine the capital of Poland and its mundane surroundings would ever bore me. I was born in 1985, and one of my dreams is to be artistically prolific until 2085. This means I could have 62 subsequent years of walking and taking pictures on Warsaw’s streets. I have no doubt each day, month, season, and year will differ for me.
That’s why I believe Warsaw is my neverending inspiration until the end of my life. The city’s rich history, its vibrant culture, and the constant changes it undergoes make me believe that I will always find something new and inspiring here. I love this city and do not want to live elsewhere. I hope, my Dear Friend, you also love your city.
