Cher’s song titled “We all sleep alone” inspired me to write this post. This song is about love, and it is quite apparent. But, I had thoughts regarding the interpretation of the song, regarding much far beyond the love.
I thought about the text concerning death. For me, the lyrics of the title song are about a human’s life’s end. The chorus’s words can tell us that no matter how social life we carry out, no matter how many people surround us daily, in the end, in a collision with death, when death comes to us, we all are left alone. It is one of the saddest truths I realized last time. Even if on a peaceful deathbed, many devoted people will surround us, the moment of death is the moment of becoming lonely.
There comes a moment when we leave this world. We disappear and leave all other people alone, with their thoughts and memories. It is this moment when a dying person starts his everlasting, possibly lonely dream. The moment of death is the moment when no one can help and support us.
What happens to a dying person? What awaits us after death? Eternal happiness? Emptiness? Punishment or everlasting joy? No one knows. There are many theories, guesses but no evidence.
Nevertheless, as Cher sang, “sooner or later, we all sleep alone.” It is an incontestable fact. We all have to face it. I think that the moment of death is a moment of divine and eternal transition. I believe it is a subsequent step in divine order which we will never comprehend. Also, I mentioned in my previous posts that the end of life is proof that our life is indeed fair. We all going to die, and it is an undeniable fact. But why it all happens? No one knows. Moreover, I believe that humankind will never discover the secret of death.
