A few days ago (I wrote this text on the 27th of February, 2025), I heard on Warsaw’s street text, “Fuck, you look fantastic. What are you taking?”
On the 25th of February, I was walking in a t-shirt at three degrees Celsius (37 degrees Fahrenheit). Suddenly, at the Zwirki i Wigury Street, a young guy came to me. He was amazed by my musculature. He asked what I was taking. What did this question mean? He asked if I had taken some anabolic steroids. I replied that I was a natural and that I did not take any steroids. He said “Respect” and added he had never seen such biceps among people who do not take anabolic steroids. That’s how our short conversation ended as I told him, “Thank you and have a good day.” This encounter was a validation of my hard work and dedication, a reminder that with the right mindset and effort, anything is possible.
It’s not about what you take but about the mindset and effort you put into your fitness journey.
Rucking made me a much more robust human than I was. I started doing it in the middle of August 2024. As far as I remember, I started by adding 5 kg to my rucksack. Today, I walk with a total weight of 26 kg (57 lbs) on my back and shoulders. Also, today, I bought a new rucksack (with 75 liters compared to my current 55 liters) and a 25 kg rectangular barbell plate. That’s why I plan to use this 25 kg barbell plate as my foundation for the subsequent increase in weight.
The truth is that the short conversation with a young man inspired me to increase the weight of my rucksack. Still, I knew I had to buy a better and more capable rucksack to be able to increase the weight. Also, I knew I had to buy one solid, rectangular barbell plate to add as a foundation for my rucking in the future. Undoubtedly, rucking makes me robust not only physically but also mentally.
