Sometimes I wonder what people see in my pictures. Generally speaking: I think that they know what they want to see.
For example, some humans see in my pictures human corpses. Others see scenes from horror movies. The funniest thing is that I never saw a human’s dead body (only the cat’s dead flesh). I love to take pictures of trees. Why? For more information, click here to see one of my previous posts.
Nevertheless, I like to depict trees as human bodies that can even copulate with each other.
Are we displaying trees tinged with erotic references? Why not? Indeed, there are some of my pictures where we can see trees similar to human legs. Also, we can notice a tree with a bottle as a small penis placed between the legs. Or just the tree as a penis? Once again: why not. We all will see in images the things which we want to see. Thus, our imagination, our main factor, can help us understand our pictures.
The abstraction is the key. When we see something abstract, for a glance, we cannot say what we see. Or, we are confused because we see two or more things simultaneously.
I mentioned in my previous posts that my photography is one big play, both for me, as an author of them, and for the audience. I love to play with interpretations regarding my photographs. Also, I like to hear when people notice something different in my images than myself. What I want to stress today is the fact that I allow add many interpretations to my pictures on various levels. If someone tells me I have a disorder or depression, I will answer: “Who knows? Maybe I have a mental disorder.”
And you, my Dear Friend, what do you see in my pictures?
