What I do is who I am.

November 22, 2025 by Adam Mazek

This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the essence of my personal and professional journey. It’s about the choices I make, the challenges I overcome, and the growth I experience in both my personal and professional life.

Undoubtedly, the older I am, the more I see and feel that what I do is who I am. I wrote this text on the 2nd of May, 2025. It was a sunny day in Warsaw when I did not go to the ruck and street photography. Why? I did not do it because I had to work hard during the month-end close in my current job (remember, my Dear Friend, I work in a broadly defined accounting area). After finishing my job in my home office, I asked myself whether I was a professional accountant or artist/photographer/blogger/writer. Undoubtedly, what I do defines who I am. That’s why, perhaps, I am all the professions mentioned above and many more.

The only difference between being an accountant and an artist is that I receive a regular salary from the first profession.

Still, in my blog, I do not want to focus too much on my professional job. I mention it quite frequently because my accounting job occupies much of my time. Sometimes I think about it as a disadvantage. Still, I believe it is my advantage. Having money from the finance area that is totally outside of the art world gives me financial and artistic independence. Someone could say that the main disadvantage could be that my professional job consumes too much time.

There would be a little truth in this sentence. Why?

I am deeply convinced that if I had 24 hours to ruck, do street photography, write, and manage the www.adammazek.com blog, I would use this extra time as much as I could imagine. I do not say I would start drinking all the time. Still, I am only human with my limitations. I simply feel I would be lazier than I am today. That’s why I am content with the fact that I work in the finance area and that, in general, I have time for my passion.
