When I first listened to Mike Oldfield’s album, entitled “Tubular Bells,” I asked myself after listening to it: “What’s going on here?”
Now, after listening to the album several times, I don’t ask this question anymore. The truth is that while contemplating the “Tubular Bells,” I move into the world of music. I let myself be carried away by the melody that leads me in different directions of my imagination in my thoughts, dreams, and fantasies. That’s why the titled question of “What’s going on here?” is not actual anymore. I believe that the titled questions are asking passers-by themselves who see me wearing the www.adammazek.com t-shirt in cold temperatures (+2 degrees Celsius / 35,6 degrees Fahrenheit) and doing street photography on Warsaw’s streets.
Moreover, sometimes, when I watch my photographs (Did I write that I like to surf the web in searching for my pictures?), I sometimes ask myself, “What’s going on there?” while analyzing and contemplating my images.
I love to create ambivalent and ambiguous works of art. After watching them, people can be left with reflections and questions. Undoubtedly, Mike Oldfield left me with similar feelings after listening to the “Tubular Bells” for the first time. I must admit that after hearing it for the first time, my first impressions were rather negative. The truth is that I did not want to listen to it once again. I did after months of break. Still, I am content that I did it. I feel that my initial response to Mike Oldfield’s musical artwork was somewhat reluctant. Later on, after listening to the whole album once again, I opened my mind to this music. I know that it already happened to me that my first impressions after listening to the album for the first time were not enthusiastic.
Later on, after listening to the album for the second time, my perception of it was far more positive. Unfortunately, for today (I wrote this text on the 23rd of November, 2021), I do not remember which music albums it happened, except for “Tubular Bells.”
