Where am I strolling?

September 18, 2021 by Adam Mazek

I write a lot here, on the www.adammazek.com website. Still, I do not write too much about where I am strolling with a camera in my hand.

Undoubtedly, walking along tourist streets and photographing them is boring for me. I was strolling many times, with many various people, along Warsaw’s main tourist roads. One of the most popular routes in Warsaw is the path called “Royal Route.” It is a former communication route that leads from the city’s Old Town to the south of Poland’s capital. It comprises a series of connecting Warsaw streets that feature several historic landmarks. The Royal Route begins at Castle Square and runs through Krakowskie Przedmiescie street via Nowy Swiat street. It goes via Aleje Ujazdowskie, Belwederska Street, Sobieskiego Street. Finally, it ends at Wilanow, at King Jan III Sobieski’s personal residence. If you want to meet me, better omit the route as mentioned above. Still, if you are in Warsaw for the first time, better start sightseeing from the Royal Route.

The fact is that I prefer paths that hardly anyone is following.

So which paths do I choose to wander? It depends mostly on where I am. If I am at my work, I will probably be walking through such districts of Warsaw as Bemowo, Wlochy, or Ursus. Also, I sometimes go to Warsaw’s western outskirts. On the other hand, if I am at home. I walk mainly through the Mokotow, Ochota, Okecie, or Wlochy districts. In one of the previous posts, I already wrote that I live somewhere between “Sluzewiec” and “Zwirki i Wigury” rail stations. Thus, walking along railroads is also one of my favorite routes to walk and to photographs. The fact is that I already walked through whole such districts (besides all mentioned above) like Ursynow, Wola, and Srodmiecie. Still, I always try to walk through the paths where only locals are walking, not tourists.
