Where to find happiness?

January 31, 2022 by Adam Mazek

People tend to think that they will find happiness in money, material things (e.g., marvelous sports cars), or luxuries. I do not believe in this theory.

Undoubtedly, money and luxuries can improve our life, make it easier to live, in the short-term such things can make us happy. Still, I do not think that external things would give true, fundamental happiness. Is it possible to obtain a permanent state of being happy? I doubt. Nevertheless, I always try to find joy in myself, in my mind, soul, and my body. Possessing peace of mind is one of the most desired states of mind in today’s world. The same goes with having broadly defined health. Indeed, it is a broadly defined balance of health, peace of mind, and soul that can move us closer towards broadly defined happiness.

The relations of the trinity (mind, body, and soul) can provide happiness, not luxuries and properties of material things.

I have no doubt that the relations of the trinity are one of the most outstanding achievements of the happiness that people can obtain. Is it a coincidence that the trinity is present also in Christian God, and we can find it both in time (past, present, and future) and in our existence (birth, life, and death)? I do not know it. What I know is that I prefer to remain healthy without luxuries. Possessing wealth is something I do not aim at all.

Undoubtedly, I can be healthy and mentally and physically strong without luxury frills. I want to stress today that I am convinced that we will find happiness only for the short term in material things and luxuries. I hope to live, e.g., one hundred years and that I will be artistically prolific until the end of my life. Moreover, having a beloved family (my parents and Kamilka!) is also the most crucial factor in being happy.
