Today (I wrote this text on the 15th of September, 2023), I will write which song inspired me to rediscover The Beatles.
Undoubtedly, it was the ‘Something’ song. Written and sung by George Harrison, it is another masterpiece from the ‘Abbey Road’ album (along with ‘Come Together,’ ‘Here Comes The Sun,’ or ‘You Never Give Me My Money’). I remember that in the second half of 2021, I listened to a mix of YouTube songs on my private account. Suddenly, a beautiful, nostalgic, soothing melody and voice appeared in my ears. I haven’t heard this song before. The surprise of discovering a new Beatles song was something like this:
What is that beautiful melody? Who sings it? What a masterpiece!
The melody’s beauty, the singer’s mystery, and the song’s sheer brilliance left me in awe. It was a moment of personal connection with the music, a moment that I can only describe as my first encounter with the song. Then, the Abbey Road cover, with the Fab Four walking through the titled street, appeared before my eyes signed ‘The Beatles – Something.’ It was a moment when I realized I’d never listened to the Abbey Road album from the beginning to the end. There were some songs, with ‘Octopus’s Garden,’ ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy),’ ‘Because,’ ‘Polythene Pam,’ or ‘The End’ at the forefront, which I’ve never listened to earlier.
Once, I saw other great songs that I’ve already known, including ‘Come Together,’ ‘Oh! Darling,’ or ‘Golden Slumbers,’ I knew I must listen to the whole album from the beginning to the end.
That’s how the ‘Something’ tune inspired me to rediscover The Beatles. Undoubtedly, my love for the Beatles’ songs will be a love lasting until my death. I know there will be many periods in my life when I will listen to the Fab Four songs. I would say a micro Beatlemania erupted and evoked deep in my mind, heart, and soul. OK, I will finish this writing. It is Friday late evening. I will go to sleep, eagerly anticipating listening to more of the Beatles’ songs before I fall asleep.
