Today (I wrote this text on the 9th of October, 2023), I will try to explain why “Shining” and “Barton Fink” are some of the most scary movies.
Suppose you have watched my Dear Friend titled movies (the first directed by Stanley Kubrick, the second by the Coen brothers). In that case, you know the common motif of these masterpieces. It is writer’s block. The characters in these movies, like me, often worry about whether they will write something each subsequent day. Sometimes, they think they’ve already registered everything they wanted to share. This fear and uncertainty are what make these movies so scary. Moreover, sometimes, I see a white, empty sheet of virtual paper ready to be filled in with wise words. Do wise words appear in my mind? I do not know.
It is up to you, my Dear Friend, to judge whether you read intelligent things here, on the www.adammazek.com website.
Sometimes, I wonder whether I have the talent to be a prolific writer/blogger. Again, I do not know it. Still, my lack of knowledge does not prevent me from trying to be one of the most prolific writers/bloggers ever stomped on Earth. After all, even writer’s block, one of the most scary things writers could imagine, does not prevent me from writing. Even if I do not know what I want to write, I’ve never left a blank page unfilled.
Speaking shortly, I’ve never had such a devastating experience with writer’s block as two protagonists (Barton Fink and Jack Torrance) of two titled scary movies. I hope not to get crazy because of writer’s block. What would happen if I tried to write something and if I failed? Nothing, life goes on. That’s why I write many posts in advance to prevent writer’s block from overcoming me. If you also write, my Dear Friend, I recommend not being scared, neither titled scary movies nor writer’s block.
