I was inspired to start to prepare “Diaries,” mainly thanks to Taschen publishing house and Fyodor Dostoyevski’s self-publishing activity.
While reading and analyzing many Taschen books that I possess in my home library, one day, I started to ask myself why I cannot begin to produce similar books about my artistic activity? I knew that I could wait for my whole life if someone wants to publish my works. Thus, I decided that I could do it by myself. How? By preparing “Diaries.”
While thinking about all these things, I reminded myself that Fyodor Dostoyevski was also the one who was self-publishing his writings. The self-published works of a Russian writer were named “A Writer’s Diary.” I decided to try to fulfill my desire to create magnificent pieces of work. How? By mixing texts and pictures and trying to reach the highest level in Taschen’s books and Dostoyevski’s writing style. Speaking shortly: I prepare “Diaries” because I want my dream to come true and see a mix of my texts and photographs on the highest level possible.
For today (I wrote this post on the 16th of May, 2021), I have already published twenty-one editions of my “Diaries.”
Is it enough? Of course not! I hope to live one hundred years. I hope to be artistically active until I die. Thus, I hope to produce more than seven hundred editions of “Diaries.” I can only imagine that if Taschen wants to publish “Diaries” after my death, they will have to prepare, e.g., seven volumes of “The Best of Mazek’s Diaries.” Did I get crazy? Perhaps. Still, I believe in myself and my “Diaries,” that is, mixing texts and photographs on PDFs ready to be printed. I do not have to mention that preparing each edition is tremendous fun for me. Without it, there would be no “Diaries.”
