This post is text number one from the series entitled „Why?” Today I will provide an answer to the question of why do I take pictures.
The first and probably the most crucial reason is that it provides me fun. Without enjoyment, I would not take pictures. Undoubtedly, I do not make photographs for money. The truth is that I work as an accountant. Thus, I do not have to earn for living by shooting photos. Someone malicious would say that I take pictures because I do not have any other artistic talent. Well, maybe it is true, but today no one should have doubts if photography is the form of art. But, if you have doubts, better google the names and works of such photographers like Eugene Atget, Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Cindy Sherman, Joel-Peter Witkin, or Sebastiao Salgado.
Is that all mean that I want to become famous? Partially, yes. Being a part of the history of photography and art is something genuinely tempting.
Still, the truth is that I do not want to become someone famous during my lifetime. If I would become a recognizable celebrity, I know that my street photographic activity would be endangered. Do I take pictures because I want to inspire others? Without a doubt, yes. I already inspired some people, and I am genuinely proud that I managed to do it. The fact is that I want to encourage as many people as possible, including my contemporaries and future generations. Speaking shortly: I want to tell others that they can also produce something unique right here and right now, without any exceptions. I believe that it is one of the main reasons why I take pictures. While having good fun, I know that I can provide incentives to other humans, in the same way as photographers mentioned above gave me something from themselves.
