We all know that reading books is one of the best ways to understand surrounding all of us, world.
I think that it is equally efficient in gaining knowledge like talking with other people and traveling around the world. But what is another, the additional advantage of reading? For me, reading is undoubtedly an inspiring activity.
While reading, we are moved to other worlds or spheres of our psyche.
Our imagination is flaring. We see things and people who would never come to our mind. All these things we can try somehow to transfer, convert, in our imagination and creations (e.g., photographs). Also, we should try to adapt the new knowledge to our experience. We can draw inspirations from writers and other artists. I am sure that literature is an endless source when we are talking about bringing inspiration.
Who inspires me?
Regarding unexplored nooks of humans psyche. He made me aware of the fact that all the people (even those sentenced for condemnation) have their own story. As long as I did not read him, I thought and felt that I am somehow the hub of the universe. Thank God I read him! Now I know that I am not the only one: with my fears, doubts, and the dark and light side of personality. We all are humans, and we all possess all these things, and that is ok.
Nevertheless, we will never change; we will always maintain all these disadvantages and frailties, and abilities of the human’s psyche. Dostoyevski was writing in the XIX century, mainly in Russia. When we read his novels today, we can see that nothing changes regarding human psychology and behavior since his times.
2) Stanislaw Lem
Polish writer inspires me because he made me aware of the place of humankind in the universe. Thanks to him, I am aware that we (humans) do know very little about ourselves. In spite of incredible technological progress which began in the XIX century and is still ongoing and speeding up, we are still almost invisible point in our galaxy. We even do not know how we appeared on this planet. We have a lot of theories (whether religious or scientific), but we still lack proves. What is worse, I am confident that we will never get such evidence.
Nevertheless, I still love reading inspiring Lem’s science-fiction novels.
3) Seneca
This ancient philosopher showed me that whatever happens to you: take it easy. One of my favorites Seneca’s comparison of how we should behave is the one like we all should be like a rock. Steady, unmoved, independent, and robust stone placed in the sea. No matter if the thunders cyclically strike it or hit by waves made by the gale. It remains still, quiet and peaceful. We should behave similarly during our daily routine. Moreover, I know it can sound a little bit funny, but Seneca also somehow encouraged me to create this blog.
He made me aware of the fact that we will all die (Memento mori!). We do not know when it will happen.
So if you are planning something in your life (e.g., develop passion) but you never have time to do it – think the opposite. You have time to do it. Just change your daily behaviors. Get rid of all disturbing activities, and suddenly you will find that you have time for your passion.
If you want to do something – do it.
Do not complicate your life and, what is more important, do not waste time. We should not procrastinate all the things which we want to do. We can die tomorrow, so if we don’t do what we are planning today, maybe we will never be able to do it again. When you stop watching this post and pictures attached, turn off your computer and go out to take photos or take a book and read.
If it is not possible for some reason: come over to your loved one (no matter if it is your kid, parent, spouse, or friend) and hug them. Undoubtedly, by doing it, you will make all the best things you can do all the best for you and your beloved ones. Focus on the most important things, and remember that you have a limited time in your time, also, for reading.
