I read Andrzej Sapkowski’s “Witcher” as a teenager. Still, I’ve never played one of the most popular games with the same title.
Still, a few days ago, I overheard a humorous exchange that went something like this:
- Is this the Witcher!?
- It’s not the Witcher.
- But it has hair like the Witcher!
Such was the dialogue I heard on the 9th of March, 2024, in Kazimierz Dolny (Lubelskie voivodeship). It was a dialogue between a (more or less) 9-year-old child and his Dad. About whom they talked? About me, the young man spoke to his Father when our eyes met. The funny fact is that it happened in the Kazimierz Dolny Castle. Thus, fantasy could appear in a young kid’s imagination when he saw my long gray hair tailed in a ponytail.
I write about it because I often hear comments about what I do (especially when I do street photography on Warsaw’s streets wearing summer clothes in frigid temperatures).
Luckily, other people’s words, thoughts, and opinions cannot hurt me anyhow. Do I plan to play the video game “Witcher?” No, I hope I won’t play any game until my life ends. The only game I can play is Football Manager. Still, I do not plan to do it because I do not desire to do it, and I have many tasks to do regarding my passion: street photography, writing, preparing subsequent “Diaries'” editions, and managing the www.adammazek.com website. I was playing games when I was young. Today, I have much more challenging tasks than playing stupid games. I do not recommend it to play games unless you have too much spare time. The same is true with Netflix and watching movies. I do it only with my beloved Parents in Brok. Kamilka and I do not watch TV in Warsaw when we have a free evening. The only exception is when Legia or the Polish football nation team play.
