Sometimes I wonder if working as an accountant is my advantage or disadvantage.
For a few years, I thought working as an accountant was my disadvantage. I was sure I wouldn’t get worldwide recognition if I were not an entirely professional photographer. Today (I wrote this post on the 14th of June, 2021), I know I do not want worldwide recognition. I do not need it. Why? Because I work as an accountant. I earn money thanks to making bookings and working on Excel sheet files. Today I know that working as an accountant is, undoubtedly, my advantage. I am convinced that thanks to doing it, I can be a fully independent artist. Money does not dictate what I should do or not. While thinking about the broadly defined process of creation, I do not think about money. The truth is that I do not analyze if something sells or not.
For example, thanks to the Artfinder platform, I know that black and white photography sells worse than full color.
Thanks to the fact that I work as an accountant, I do not care which colors in photography sell better.
Black and white magical pictures are my choice. It is my way of creating new things. The same with managing this website. I do not write things focused on increasing sales, targeting a new market, etc. I write what I want to read, not what could increase sales of my pictures. Today I know that working as an accountant and possessing financial independence from artistic processes provides a high level of confidence. Thanks to all these things, I do what I want to do. I do not want to meet the expectations of clients.
Pablo Picasso or Salvador Dali was also, among other artists, who did not have to ask others how they should paint to sell it. They did what they wanted to do, without exceptions. During writing this text, I gained the conviction that working as an accountant is my advantage. Paradoxically, it helps me in my creativity.
