I do not consider works created by AI to be meaningful and crucial.
Today (I wrote this text on the 20th of October, 2023), people are increasingly overwhelmed by works created by AI. We see them on many web pages and social media apps. For me, such works are dull and unmeaningful. When I know these works were created by Artificial Intelligence algorithms, not by humans’ brains, hearts, souls, and hands, I do not consider these works as artworks. I treat them as a curiosity, nothing more. The distinction lies in the fact that human-created art is a product of our unique experiences, emotions, and perspectives, while AI-generated works lack this human touch. Undoubtedly, I won’t play with creating my works via the Artificial Intelligence app (e.g., ChatGPT). Why? Because it won’t be my work, but it will be made of algorithms. Art does not come from animals or the cosmos. It is we, humans, who create art from ourselves to others.
Works based on algorithms are worthless and uninteresting.
On the other hand, if something is made because one desires to do it, without any expectations, without hoping for money or fame (e.g., keeping secret journals, painting or photographing only for close ones or for no one), such works of art are much more valuable, interesting, noticeable and noteworthy than all other ‘breathtaking’ deep-faked pictures programmed by AI. In today’s post, I want to inspire you, my Dear Friend, to create, to bring to life whatever you want to make with your mind, imagination, body, hands, or whatever.
I do not want to encourage you to help AI create works using the data you added to the Artificial Intelligence.
Forget about AI and focus on your personal creative processes. I will do it, and I encourage you to do the same. Life is too short and remarkable to focus attention on works created by AI. I choose human effort. Of course, I know AI is an indirect human work. That’s why artificial intelligence is somewhat magnificent work done by humans. Still, works created by AI are simply dull.
