The post’s title refers to nicknames I heard about myself while doing street photography. I especially liked Yeti and Hardcore.
Regarding the latter, I already wrote a text entitled “Hardcore is in the city.” I mentioned there that the Ukrainians fighting against the fucking Putin’s army were genuinely hardcore. Still, the truth is that a small group of young people said, “Hardcore is in the city,” when they saw me walking in summer clothes in cold temperatures. I do not have to mention the Yeti nickname I received in similar circumstances. It was a day when I was also exposing my body to coldness while doing street photography and, again, a group of young people said:
Here comes Yeti.
I was nicknamed “Paparazzi” on the 21st of April, 2022 (this text I wrote on the 22nd of April, 2022). I suppose it is relatively straightforward why young people seeing me doing street photography named me “Paparazzi.” The truth is that I was not taking photos of celebrities or strangers. I was merely walking with a camera in my hand. What do I think about all these nicknames? Every time I heard them, I smiled at strangers and myself. I can easily imagine that many people, especially those who stare at me with amazement and disbelief, can think of me as someone who got crazy.
I must admit that I do not care how people describe me or what they think about me. The truth is that I was worrying about this issue for many years. Luckily, I do not worry about such things anymore. I do not have any influence on such matters, and I know that other peoples’ thoughts and words cannot hurt me. Thus, when I heard of myself being Yeti, I smiled at myself and did my job, which was street photography.
