I made it! Today (I wrote this text on the 9th of May, 2026), I managed to take almost 11k steps while wearing a 40.5 kg (89 lbs) rucksack! In rucking, I trust!
Was it hard? Yes, it was. Nonetheless, it was not as hard as I thought it would be. After all, I made almost 11k steps without a single break! What does it mean? It means that I could have increased (from 37.5 kg) the weight of my rucksack earlier. Indeed, I was thinking about it between 2025 and 2026. Then, in the middle of January 2026, I had a right calf injury. This injury prevented me from experimenting with rucking with the increased weight. I remember that in one of my posts from January 2026 (I believe it was from the first half of this month), I was thinking aloud about whether I managed to increase the weight in March 2026. It did not happen due to injury, but I made it two months later.
Am I happy? Of course, I am.
Do you know someone who can take almost 11k steps without a break with a backpack weighing 40.5 kg? I doubt it. Do not try this at home, my Dear Friend. If you want to start your journey with rucking, start with walking with a bottle/bottles full of water in your rucksack. Then, depending on how your body responds, gradually increase the weight. You will simply feel it. Today, I am starting a new chapter regarding rucking. The last time I increased the weight of my burden was at the beginning of June 2025. Today, I am simply happy that I am alive and that I did not hurt myself anyhow. Tomorrow, I plan to ruck again with 40.5 kg on my back and shoulders. Undoubtedly, there is no better thing I could do for myself than this.
