Stepping outside your comfort zone should be a very physical experience.
People today are jaded and bored with the comforts of life. The first two sentences of this text were my thoughts from today’s walk. I wrote this text on the 11th of April, 2026. It was a day when I was not only walking and doing street photography (I took 15k steps and shot 250 pictures), but I was also rucking with the heaviest possible (as of now, for me) rucksack, weighing 37.5 kg (83 lbs). I took only one break during my walk. It means that I heavily consider increasing the weight of my backpack to 40 kg (88 lbs). I hope to do it this spring. Walking with a rucksack weighing 37.5 kg is one of the heaviest physical experiences I have had.
For me, perhaps the other one equally difficult is walking in summer clothes in freezing temperatures (e.g., wearing a t-shirt, shorts, sneakers, winter cap, and gloves while it was -8 degrees Celsius [17.6 degrees Fahrenheit]).
For most of my life, I did not know it, but now I see and feel how I needed such physical experiences. I believe that most of the people living in the broadly defined Western world in the third decade of the XXI century do not know and (what is worse), feel that they need fasting, exposure to cold, and carrying heavy weights to feel better and more robust, both physically and mentally. I am here, on the www.adammazek.com blog, to tell it aloud: create, walk, fast, take cold showers, walk with a heavy rucksack.
There is no better way to increase the level of your health and happiness.
Even though all these things can sometimes hurt, both physically and mentally, they are essential to becoming a more powerful man. Do not be afraid of physical pain, my Dear Friend. It will only make you stronger in various ways.
