What makes us different from animals is that we ask questions.
Our beloved kitty Azorek does not ask questions. I would say he generally wants to eat, hug, and sleep. Azorek does not ask existential questions to his owners and himself. Contrary to most people, with artists and scientists at the front. What drives human civilization ahead? Questioning and looking for answers. Without it, we would still sit in caves, almost like animals. I can clearly imagine that the process of asking questions began when cavemen started looking upon the night sky and asking themselves something like:
What is it all about?
It is not the case that my Azorek cannot observe stars because of light pollution in the capital of Poland. This problem occurs in all metropolises. The point is that he is a sweet little kitty who needs the protection of their owners. That’s all. No questions were asked of him. We, people, can make art practically from everything. Not only music and paintings (including those from caves) are the issues in this case. People created works of art in such fields as sex (with erotic pictures at the forefront), food, clothes/fashion, buildings, and shelters (architecture). Speaking shortly, the act and process of creating something out of nothing is another factor that differentiates us from animals.
Azorek won’t draw a sketch and sing David Bowie’s “Rebel, Rebel” song.
Moreover, cats and other animals do not send rockets to the Moon. They do not have either knowledge or curiosity. They are much more limited than people’s minds. All these things do not mean we will conquer the Milky Way galaxy. For today (I wrote this text on the 3rd of April, 2023), it is much better to focus on the Moon and Mars. Still, without questioning, asking, analyzing, risking, and contemplating many issues, we, as human civilization, would have trouble getting out of the caves in prehistoric times.
