While walking and doing street photography, I do not think that my pictures will become historical and documentary pictures someday, in the future.
Still, the longer I do street photography (I wrote this text on the 7th of November, 2025, and I’ve been doing street photography since October 2015), and develop my pictures in the Lightroom tool, the better I see that more and more my past pictures present historic views – sights that won’t ever be repeated anyhow. Of course, my remark applies to only part of my pictures. After all, when I photograph garbage, as of today, it is hard to say whether this litters were photographed in 2016 or 2024. On the other hand, I know I have some pictures of buildings that no longer exist. Do I plan to change anything in my way of doing street photography?
As of now, no, I do not have such plans.
I plan to simply walk and photograph whatever attracts my eyes, without overthinking if what I see and photograph will be gone soon, and that simultaneously my picture will be a documentary one. How happy I am that during the next few days, I will be able to walk and enjoy Warsaw’s mundane views and photograph them. During the last few days, I was not doing street photography (only rucking late in the evening) due to my responsibilities in my professional job (please remember my Dear Friend, I work in a broadly defined finance).
I feel a deep hunger, a yearning, to do street photography. Sometimes I am thinking whether I should start doing night photography. Still, during this activity, I won’t walk as much as I would like to. Also, I would not be rucking and exposing my body to cold by wearing a t-shirt in summer clothes. I would have to walk with a tripod, but thinking about it seems, for me, this activity to be somewhat dull.
