At a time when everyone is trying to make their backpack as light as possible, you should think about how to make yours heavier.
Do not try to be a light traveler, my Dear Friend. Or try to be a heavy traveler more frequently. I wrote this text on the 17th of May, 2026. It was a day when I took over 14k steps with a rucksack weighing 40.5 kg (89 lbs.) on my back and shoulders. Of course, while walking, I was also doing street photography. I took over 260 pictures, and I think that’s a great result. While walking, I saw many people. Some of them were skinny, others fat-skinny, others fat, and some had an athletic body shape. The last ones were in the minority. I asked myself why. Why do people hurt themselves by not trying to be athletic? I think that I know the answers for most people: they do not like sports, or they do not have time for a gym, etc.
Still, I believe that most of us have time to take a walk for 30 or 45 minutes.
Considering this, I believe that most of us can make our rucksacks heavier by adding some stuff there (these can be bottles of water or even books) and just walk. We call this exercise rucking, and it is powerful for one’s health and well-being. The sharp outlook is another advantage of rucking. There is no better way to increase your strength and stamina than rucking. It makes you powerful mentally as well. Remember, my Dear Friend: when you want to take a simple walk, do not think of not taking. Instead, think of what kind of heavyweight you can add to your backpack. Become a much more powerful human by adding something extra to it. Believe me, that is worth it on the same level as fasting and exposing one’s body to cold.
