I do not want to be pigeonholed.

April 8, 2026 by Adam Mazek

As far as I can, I would like to avoid being pigeonholed.

I don’t want to be classified unequivocally. After all, no human being is “zero-one.” Even Putin (although this sentence barely passes my lips) has his good sides and must have done useful and good things in his life. On the other hand, who is to say what is good and what is bad? What I am about to write will be very controversial (especially in the context of all my posts in the “War in Ukraine” series), but what if, in the long run, this war turns out to be for the better for the Ukrainian people? Then we could certainly say that the sacrifices made by the Ukrainian people were not in vain, that they had their own inexplicable meaning. I forgot that I wanted to write today about how I would like to be multidimensional and not be pigeonholed.

I would like to escape stereotypes in such a way that when people are asked about me after my death, they will have to think for a moment about what words to use to describe me.

The truth is that I often ask myself who I am. I cannot answer this question precisely. Luckily, I am only a human, and I do not have to know the answers to all the questions asked. My ultimate goal is to break down stereotypes and promote a more nuanced understanding of identity. Am I an artist? Undoubtedly, I am. After all, most of the other people are artists. Am I an accountant? Undoubtedly, I am. After all, I am being paid for work in broadly defined finance. Am I a writer? Yes, I am. After all, I write, thus I live. Am I a blogger? Yes, I am. After all, you read this text on my blog (I have been managing it since the first of September, 2017 [I wrote the current text on the 23rd of October, 2025]).

Am I an influencer? Yes, I am. After all, I inspired a couple of people to start creating something out of nothing or doing intermittent fasting.

Am I crazy? Yes, I am. After all, who walks in summer clothes in freezing temperatures? Am I a bodybuilder? Yes, I am. After all, who can walk with a rucksack weighing 37.5 kg (83 lbs.) on one’s back and shoulders and doing 12k steps? Am I a photographer? Yes, I am. After all, I’ve been doing street photography since October 2015, and I’ve already sold a couple of my pictures not only in Poland, but also in the US and UK. That’s how I hope to avoid being pigeonholed. Am I a good person? Yes, I am. After all, I have done many good deeds in my life. Am I a bad person? Yes, I am. After all…
