I do like it. I think that most of us love this activity.
More and more often, I see people who probably do not listen to music with enough attention needed. Unfortunately, I also usually make the same mistake.
Sometimes I feel that we do not give as much respect to the music as we should. We listen to music in a car, public transport or the office. We do that during tidying, running, or walking. Don’t you think that during all these activities we are too much distracted by some external factors? I just want to give you some of the examples of such distractors. These are other people (e.g., commuters, passersby, members of the family, friends) or material things (social media in smartphones, laptops, TV, the Internet).
Speaking shortly: I am convinced that most of the time during listening to the music, we do not focus enough on this form of art.
I would compare this case with watching photographs or movies on your smartphones. We all see a lot of good stuff on our smartphones, but we do not see details, we do not analyze it, we do not give to some masterpieces as much attention as we could (and should).
What should we do with that?
Let us allow ourselves to take a little pause, relax. When you are at home alone (or for example with your partner) sit down in your living room (or another place in your house where you can enjoy music with peace), turn on your favorite music artist, relax and listen to the music. Give to the music as much attention as possible. Feel the flow, enjoy it, and contemplate it. Minimalize all distractors and give the artist deserved tribute.
I am sure that thanks to that you will gain by listening to music much more than during hearing to it while doing some other things.
Just relax and enjoy it.
The same case is with photography.
Do not analyze pictures on your smartphones or laptops. Go to the art exhibition or borrow/buy books.
Watching photographs in the galleries or analyzing the books will provide you with much more fun, and you will gain much more than by using your computers.
To be clear: I do not say that listening to the music on the train or watching the pictures on the iPhone is terrible. I want to encourage you to give a little bit more effort while making all mentioned above activities.
