My artistic activity is a great contemplation on life and death.

June 20, 2026 by Adam Mazek

Not for the first time in my life, I decided to return to one of my inspirations, which I wrote in the past.

The title of this text is my inspiration, which I wrote on the 24th of November, 2018. I decided to get back to it on the 5th of January, 2026. Why did it happen? It was because I did not have any specific topic to write about, and I did not want to write about a lack of a topic to write, rucking, or exposing my body to cold. When I saw my inspiration in which I stated that my artistic activity was a great contemplation on life and death, I realized that nothing has changed since the time I wrote the initial thought. Indeed, I often write that when I walk and do street photography, I contemplate life and death.

By contemplating life, I mean cherishing the present moment, the fact that I am alive, that I am here and now, and I do not overthink the unreachable past and do not predict the unknown future.

On the other hand, I often write about the XXI century substitute of the medieval Memento Mori. Carpe Diem, my Dear Friend, because today it can be the last day of your life. Does it mean I wake up every day and wonder if I’ll die tonight? No. It means I am waking up each day with a childish curiosity about what I will experience the following day. I create, thus, I am. I believe it can be one of my artistic mottos. Since I started doing street photography, writing, and managing the www.adammazek.com blog, I realized how much I missed during my first thirty years of life (I started doing street photography in October 2015, and I was born on the 29th of March, 1985). There is no better way to cherish life and consider death than by creating something out of nothing.
