Nothing lasts forever

March 25, 2020 by Adam Mazek

A lot of people would say that “Nothing lasts forever.” Personally, I would add that, first of all, our lives will not last forever.

I already wrote about it, and I will write about it once more. The sooner we realize that nothing lasts forever, the better for us. Life is something we cannot extend by ourselves, we cannot buy it. We have only one lifelong in this world. The fact is that if the “Memento mori” statement will stick to our mind, the more possible that we will start to make really essential things in our lives. Sometimes I wonder how our world would look like if people suddenly receive everlasting lives. I believe that after the first euphorias, most of us would start to be depressed.

Are you insane? If humans would become immortals, you want to tell me that all of us would start to be depressed? Do you want to commit suicide?

Undoubtedly you could ask me, my Dear Friend.

I merely believe that if all of us received immortal life, we would start to feel that we are trapped on this planet. I think that, after receiving such a timeless “gift,” humanity would stop to develop. Practically all the people would start only to have fun and drinking because, why in fact, we would still need development? What would make us go through our lives? If the eternal aim of most of the people, to become immortal, would be accomplished, why would we yet make an effort in a widely defined, scientific, cultural, or spiritual development?

I believe that immortalize population would be a real nightmare.

Planet Earth would be totally destroyed within a much shorter period than we would expect. Thus, I think that we have the luck that nothing lasts forever. During our daily routine, we should remember that we possess limited time to live. Thus, we should focus on things that are intensely crucial for us.
