I have written many times that we should kick the numbers out of the art world. Still, I noticed that last time I often wrote about numbers in my activities.
For example, I often write how many steps I took the last time. Also, I write how many pictures I took during a photo walk. Other numbers that often appear in my texts are the ones related to how many kilograms I had in my backpack while rucking or what the temperatures outside are, especially during the Fall and Winter seasons. Am I contradicting myself? Of course, I am. I do it often, not only in topics related to numbers in the art world. Does it mean I got mad? Perhaps it is one of the possibilities. Still, I believe that the fact that I am evolving and that the world is complex rather than straightforward could explain why I often write about numbers or write that we should forget about them.
For example, I still believe we should forget about the amounts of money that we could earn from our artistic passion.
The truth is that while walking on Warsaw’s streets, I’ve never analyzed how much money I could earn from my artistic passion. The truth is that I do not expect monetization from what I do on my blog. I am photographing, writing, and managing this blog for myself, for you, my Dear Friend, and for all mankind. The statistical numbers that I often provide, mentioned earlier, are provided rather as a historical curiosity – a fun fact – nothing more. In general, I would repeat what I said in the past: we should kick the numbers out of the art world. Still, as a person who works in a broadly defined finance area, I know that we cannot escape numbers and that we should simply accept and use them.
