I hope my selfies won’t pop up out of fridges on soda cans.
The truth is that I do not want to become a pop icon. Still, I hope my selfies will appear in one of the Taschen books about my creative activity one day. I wrote this text on the 5th of June, 2022. It was a day when I was doing street photography. While doing it, I took two selfies in different places. After doing it, I realized that perhaps it was time for me to prepare a new set of pictures with my selfies. I realized that I probably already have enough number of them to prepare a PDF like “Negation of the End,” “Inspired by Tolkien, or “Road to Nowhere.”
While thinking about all these things, I wondered what drives other artists to paint or photograph themselves. After all, almost all world-famous artists were doing it, including Sandro Botticelli, Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dali, and Frida Kahlo at the forefront. First of all, pure vanity drives people to create their selfies. I am not an exception. I have no doubt that, in my case, vanity has a leading role in taking pictures of myself.
Moreover, I believe the issue of time passing away is also crucial in this case.
Most of us want to be remembered by as many people as possible. We want to be recognized as beautiful and healthy people. That’s why most of us take selfies when prepared (e.g., well-dressed) for it. There are exceptions to it, e.g., in Frida Kahlo’s artworks. I do not have to mention that I have worn the www.adammazek.com t-shirt (since the late summer of 2021) when I do street photography. That’s how I am prepared for self-portraits. Ok, I will finish writing. I will hug my beloved Kamilka, stroke our kitty Azorek, eat six eggs, and sleep.
PS
Photos published in this post are the ones I took on the 5th of June, 2022.
