Steroids.

July 24, 2026 by Adam Mazek

In today’s text (I wrote it on the 31st of January, 2026), I want to stress I’ve never taken steroids, even if one stranger, almost one year ago, asked me what steroids I took, because I looked so muscular.

Ok, to be honest, I wanted this post to be more about geopolitics, to be honest. What do steroids have in common with geopolitics? It appears that they have more than we think. Yesterday, I read in one of the articles on the Polish website, www.onet.pl, that a French journalist wrote that the Polish economy is on steroids.

The Polish economy on steroids?

I asked myself. Perhaps he was right. For me, the one who struggles each day for this economy, it was somewhat mind-boggling. Then I started asking myself the following questions. What could we say about the German economy, which for years was fueled by semi-free, highly addictive Russian gas? Wasn’t that the steroid pumping up the German economy’s organism? Staying with this comparison, we could even draw the needle used to pump the steroid into the German organism. We could name this needle Nordstream. Moreover, we could even draw this needle on the globe (specifically over the Baltic Sea). The best color to draw this needle would be blood red, not only to make it clear how the German economy was being pumped up, but also to symbolically illustrate how Putin spent billions of euros of German money on the sale of gas.

The answer to read this symbol would be clear: the war in Ukraine.

Fortunately, the second pipeline through which the second stream of gas/poison was to flow to Germany (Nordstream 2) was blown up before it became operational. While writing all these things, I recalled my post from the past about Angela Merkel (post: “A book about Angela Merkel”, written on the 9th of May, 2022, and published on the 22nd of June, 2023). To be honest, up to today, I still cannot understand why Taschen published this book. Undoubtedly, Merkel indirectly started the war in Ukraine. If I could choose one European politician, besides the obvious one, the Russian troll named Putin, responsible for the war in Ukraine, it would be the former German chancellor.
