The more I watch bizarre Zdzislaw Beksinski’s paintings, analyze creepy HR Giger’s artworks, or admire the fantasy world created by Frank Frazetta, the more I appreciate and embrace the real world.
I wrote this text on the 3rd of December, 2025. It was a day when I was returning in the evening from my office job to my home on foot. Of course, I had almost 30 kg (66 lbs) of burden on my back and shoulders. While walking among Warsaw’s trees in Pole Mokotowskie Park, I recalled many Zdzislaw Beksinski’s, HR Giger’s, and Frank Frazetta’s paintings. When I was imagining and seeing their works in my imagination, I had a feeling I was in their Fantasy World, where everything is possible, not only the best dream to come true, but also the worst nightmare to be reality.
During these moments, I am coming back to the planet Earth, realizing that I have my own world to discover.
It is not a Fantasy world from the greatest imaginative minds. It is the world of concrete, stains on pavements, cracks in walls, average trees, no-name passersby whom I meet from tens to hundreds while walking among mundane Warsaw’s streets. I love my world. I do not dream of moving somewhere else. Even if fucking Putin’s army came to Poland, I wouldn’t escape, but I would confront them and kick their dirty asses out of my beloved homeland.
On the other hand, I love watching visualizations by the greatest artists, with the ones mentioned above at the forefront.
I need to observe and analyze their fantasy worlds to cherish my own. That’s the way it is. Of course, I do not have to mention that after each time I watch their great pictures, I have a desire to take a camera in my hand and photograph everything that attracts my eyes, capturing the magic in the mundane and reminding myself of the wonder in everyday life.
